Exodus International Sponsors Its First Day of Truth To Help Students "Get the Conversation Started" About Faith and Sexuality
April 15, 2010
Today, Christian high school and college students around the country are encouraged to demonstrate the love of Christ to their peers by participating in the Day of Truth, an annual student-led event dedicated to facilitating dialogue about relationships, sexuality and faith. To promote this year's theme of Get the Conversation Started, Exodus International released two practical videos featuring man on the street interviews at a local college. The conversation starters may be accessed both at the Day of Truth website (http://dayoftruth.org) and on YouTube.
"Students today have more questions than ever about life, relationships, sexuality and God. These videos are designed to start an open and casual conversation about these important issues that young people are struggling to understand, said Jeff Buchanan, who oversees the Day of Truth for Exodus International. "When I was a young man, I struggled with unwanted same-sex attraction and found that God not only had answers, but could change my heart and my life. We hope Christian students across the country will take advantage of this opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ to peers who may be in a similar situation looking for answers."
The Alliance Defense Fund originally launched the Day of Truth in 2005 to give Christian students an opportunity to express their views about such issues in public schools. Since then, more than 13,000 students have participated in the event. In 2009, the organization announced that it would transition the Day of Truth to Exodus International, the largest ministry addressing faith and same-sex attraction in the world today.
