Alan Chambers
President of Exodus International

{glossarbot=disable} Alan Chambers is one of the nation’s leading speakers on homosexuality and is the president of Exodus International — the largest evangelical organization dealing with this topic in the world today. Alan’s personal story as a teen and young adult who struggled with and overcame unwanted same-sex attraction has inspired audiences around the world. He offers unique insight into how homosexuality affects individuals, families and the culture at large.
Since its inception in 1976, Exodus has grown to include more than 170 professional mental health and church-based member agencies that are committed to helping those seeking freedom from homosexuality. Under Alan’s leadership, Exodus has launched new media initiatives, expanded its outreach to include teens and young adults and has presented an increasing number of conference events around the country that address the issue of homosexuality with biblical truth and Christ-like compassion. He also launched the Exodus Church Network, an interdenominational coalition of nationwide churches that assist those personally impacted by homosexuality, as well as Exodus Books, the leading evangelical distributor of resources on the subject of homosexuality.
Prior to coming to Exodus in 2001, Alan served on the pastoral team at Calvary Assembly of God — one of the largest churches in Orlando, Florida. Previously, he spent two years as a personal assistant to Major League Baseball pitcher Orel Hershiser.
Alan has addressed public forums across the United States and around the world and has debated at the University of California at Berkeley, Pepperdine University, the University of Central Florida and Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida. He is also a regular guest speaker for Focus on the Family’s Love Won Out
Conference — an international conference addressing the roots and causes of homosexuality. In 2005, one of the leading Christian publications, Charisma magazine, named him among the top Christian leaders representing the future of the American church.
A frequent guest on media outlets across the country, Alan has been interviewed by the Associated Press, the Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, Time magazine, Newsweek, National Public Radio, ABC’s 20/20, Good Morning America, Nightline, the Fox Network and CNN’s Anderson Cooper Live, Paula Zahn Now and The Situation Room.
