Exodus Book Tops Best Outreach Resources of 2006
May 1, 2007
Exodus International's book, God's Grace and the Homosexual
Next Door, was named among the best resources by Outreach magazine, a
leading provider of outreach products in North America. The publication honors
resources that are voted on by readers and a panel of 10 experts. Results of
this year's vote have just been announced in Outreach magazine's May/June
2007 issue.
God's Grace and the Homosexual Next Door, a resource
designed to help evangelical churches and individuals practically demonstrate
compassion to gay men and women, was named "Best Target Outreach" by
Outreach magazine. The book is co-authored by Alan Chambers, President of
Exodus International, as well as other Exodus staff members including Executive
Vice President Randy Thomas and Scott Davis, Director of Student
Ministries.
Several key areas are addressed including the behavioral
complexities and roots of homosexuality; dealing with fear and ignorance within
the church; leading gay men and women to Christ; mentoring repentant homosexuals
in the church and helping youth affected by homosexuality. The book, published
by Harvest House Publishers, also offers practical guidelines on talking with
gay men and women.
"We are grateful for this honor and are tremendously gratified
by the positive response this book has generated," said Chambers. "Now, more
than ever, the world needs to hear of the compassion, grace and mercy that Jesus
Christ offers to every individual regardless of their human struggle. It is our
great hope that this book will continue to inspire and equip the Christian
community in proclaiming this message."
Notable authors and speakers such as Joe Dallas, Coral Ridge
Ministries Founder Dr. D. James Kennedy, Christian recording artist Sheila Walsh
and Dr. Robert Wolgemuth have endorsed the book. It is available in Christian
bookstores across the country.
